Tuba

Tuba player, performance artist, and composer Dr. Sean Kennedy is always looking to try something new. Focusing on collaborative efforts, performance art, improvisation, and new works for tuba; Sean wants to push the limits of music and performance. Over the course of his career, Sean has collaborated with dancers, 2d and 3d artists, as well as filmmakers, to create new performance environments. Composing and commissioning works for performance artist and tuba enables Sean to create new ventures for the tuba world. Working with The Chuppers, Martin Funk Band, and other various artists in improvisatory sessions and performances have led to the creation of different audiences for the tuba. 

Sean holds degrees from the University of New Mexico, Penn State University, and Texas Tech University in music performance of tuba. Each degree pushed their tuba technique and artistic expression into the collaborative force that is working in a vibrant career. Sean has opened many doors for themself and the tuba, by showing the world the virtuosic capabilities of the tuba. From performing live in Meow Wolf to being seen on international tv, Sean uses avant-garde improv to showcase the ability of the tuba. As Peacock the Goddess of tuba, Sean has taken tuba to a whole new audience base and created new pathways for performance and tuba. Peacock has shown the world what is the intersection of drag, gender ideals, fortune telling, performance art, and tuba.

Currently, Sean is performing at Meow Wolf as the “famed” Peacock Goddess of tuba, and freelancing and teaching in New Mexico.
